LOA and M&Ms!!!

i quit counting the days when it hit 74 and i found out our file was lost/misplaced/or put in some unknown place at the CC*A. we were told it would come 'soon'. but i thought our definition of 'soon' could be very different. that was a week ago and today our turn came! rejoice!

on new year's eve, a good friend and i agreed/vowed that we would not eat any sweets until our LOA came. and when i commit something to the Lord, let's just say i take it seriously :) nada, zilch, zip, not a dang thing sweet has crossed these lips since 11:59 12/31/09 when her and i were chowing cheesecake. i'm not kidding. not even by one minute. until today :)

i broke down and emailed the agency around noon thinking they would have called since fedex would have delivered it by 10:30, if it even came at all. all i said was 'anything?' and i very quickly got back a reply 'YES, CALL US!' i told the kids i was making possibly the 'big' call and they all flew to get their candy bags from their easter egg hunt at church last night. in the blink of an eye, i had small packs of M&Ms, skittles, and twix bars in my face. i'm not kidding. not even by one piece.

and soon as i heard the words, 'it has arrived', i pretty much hung up and ate six little bags of M&Ms. i'm not kidding. okay, maybe i am. it might have been 8. i quit counting.

and then, abigail, i called your dad :)

  2. I was hoping you would be one of the families to get your LOA today! Do they tell you why you didn't get it with the last batch when people with a LID after your date got theirs?

Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS! Hope you have a speedy TA to make up for the extra wait.

  3. That's hilarious about the M&M's! I don't think I could stay away from sweets that long. Just shows you have a LOT of will power (and God Power).

  6. Wow - I am a follower of Jean's blog and my computer just jumped to her's this morning without my having pressed enter! I looked at your blog just a few minutes ago, and the post about the mist just spoke to my heart!

You see, my husband and I are a "bit older" than the normal (51 and 53) and have a 24 year old son who just graduated from college, a 5 year old son adopted from Philip Hayden Foundation 2 years ago, and our newest son, a 2 year old adopted from Anhui Province in February. When we first began our adoption journeys 4 1/2 years ago, we were just sure we had a daughter named Sophie somewhere out there. It turned out that God led us to two precious little boys instead, but we can't get it out of our hearts that "Sophie" is still out there.

We have been feeling led to older child adoptions recently, but we know this is not the time to do so from a human standpoint (too old, too tired from our newest adoption, too indebt from Elijah adoption, etc.)

    But God . . .

We know He can work all things out, so I can hardly wait to show my husband the "mist" post where you received the direct sign from the Lord about your daughter and even after you had been struggling with some reservations.

God bless you as you get closer and closer to bringing her home.
